I don’t think there’s such a thing as original content that only you can think of. The truth is there’s nothing new under the sun. Everything that needs to be said has been said. You can only enhance what is already out there.

Wasted time. Which prevents your efforts to double your word count.

You’re Wasting Your Time on an Unproductive Activity

What’s your time wasted on? Time is wasted on trying to write original content.

There’s so much talk about original content out there. But I think it’s the province of the amateur and the inexperienced.

I don’t think there’s such a thing as original content that only you can think of.

The truth is there’s nothing new under the sun. Everything that needs to be said has been said. You can only enhance what is already out there.

So, there’s no need to waste your time trying to think of original content.

So, what should you do instead?

The Gap Filler Hero

Be a Gap Filler Hero/Heroine.

What does that mean? There are hundreds of thousands of blog posts and articles related to your niche.

Most of them leave gaps in their content. Nobody can claim to cover everything in a blog post. Even a book can’t do that.

So, you go in and read a blog post or an article.

In my experience, most blog posts tell you what to do but not how to do it.

That’s just one point you can zoom in on. There are others. Let’s look at an example on how you can double your word count instead of wasting hours thinking of what to write about.

How to Be a Gap Filler : The Steps

Say, you read a blog post on 20 Ways to Beat Writer’s Block.

One of the ways, discussed is to keep a journal.

A praragraph says, “Keeping a journal will help you clarify your thoughts and clear writer’s block. Many writers keep journals to help them with writing flow…”

Identifying the Gaps

The writer has not discussed what kind of journal to keep? Online journal? Or writing in a notebook? Which is better? That’s one blog post. If you yourself keep an online journal, you can explain why you prefer it over a notebook or vice versa.

Okay, you’ve decided that you’ll keep a journal to help beat writer’s block. What should you write in your journal? Not many will know what to write in their journals. So, you can come up with 5 or 10 things they can write about in the journal to beat writer’s block.

Moving on, let’s look at the part which talks about writers who keep journals.

Who are these writers? Can we list five or ten of them in a post, Five Bestselling Writers Who Keep Journals to Beat Writer’s Block?

You may even want to provide excerpts from their journal.

See, how we manage to extract 3 blog post or article ideas from a single paragraph.

I could extract more if I keep on digging. I could even come up with at least 20 article ideas from a single post. You, too, can.

A Gap Filler’s Storehouse of Writing Ideas

Just imagine if you read an average of 5 articles a day, you can come up with at least 100 blog post ideas.

You can then store these ideas in your spreadsheet and write on them for weeks to come.

So, be a gap filler instead of trying to be an ‘original’ article writer. You’ll be writing productively and won’t be scratching your head thinking of how to double your word count.

Don’t worry. Most of your aticles will be unique compared to others out there as you’ll cover areas which others are prone to leave out.
