How Much Does Adsense Pay Per 1000 Views on a Website

One of the easiest ways to make money with a website or blog is through Adsense. If you’re new to Adsense or are applying to join the program, you may be wondering how much Adsense pays per 1000 page views.

Ad Clicks

You partner with Google to display ads on your site. When these ads get clicked, the advertiser pays Google.

Google then splits the payment with you.

According to Google, they pay you 68% of the revenue they earn from advertisers.

CPM Ads

But you may also have heard that Google pays you based on page views. This happens when you display CPM ads.

It means you earn money even if nobody clicks on your ads. You earn money each time a visitor sees your ads on your page.

However, earnings from CPM ads are usually much lower than earnings from ad clicks.

An advertiser sets the price for a thousand impressions or views of the ads. According to Google, some advertisers may pay as low as $0.50 per 1000 impressions.

Also, your day-to-day CPM earnings will vary. The same applies to CPC earnings.

Your CPM earnings will not be displayed on your Adsense dashboard. You can only view your page RPM.

What is RPM Then?

According to Google, RPM means page revenue for every thousand impressions.

Page RPM doesn’t mean the revenue you earn from page views alone.

How is this calculated?

Your total earnings from ad clicks and CPM ads are divided by the number of page views. This number is then multiplied by 1000.

If you’ve made $10 (from ad clicks) from 100 page views then your RPM will be 10 divided by 100 multiplied by 1000.

10 divided by a hundred is 0.1. 0.1 multiplied by 1000 is 100

So your page RPM is $100.

Page RPM gives you an indication of how much your earnings per 1000 views from ad clicks and ad impressions (views).

Earnings Depend on Your Niche

The amount you’ll make depends on the niche you’re in. Some niches pay a high amount of CPC (cost per click).

These will be niches where the advertiser competition for certain keywords is high.

You can get an estimate of how much you can earn from different niches using the Adsense revenue calculator.

Google offers the revenue calculator as a guide to estimated revenue only. It doesn’t mean you’ll earn the money displayed in the calculator if you reach the targetted number of categories.

Also, choosing a profitable category will not mean you’ll earn a high amount of money. Competition in such a category is usually stiff.

A new website or blog may not enjoy search engine visibility and may not earn much in the short term.

However, if you persist with creating quality content, you’ll enjoy high search engine rankings in the long run.

This will bring more visitors which increase ad clicks.

So, there’s no set amount of how much Adsense pay per 1000 views. It depends on how much advertisers are prepared to pay to have their ads seen a thousand times by web visitors.
