How to Disable News and Interests on Windows Taskbar to Prevent Distractions While Working

How do I get rid of News and interests on the taskbar in Windows 10?

Do you like to catch up on news updates without visiting any news sites? If so, the News and Interests feature on Windows 10 would come as a boon.

However, if you’re the type of person who would like to keep herself focused on work after turning on the computer, this feature would be more of an unwanted distraction.

If you don’t want to be dragged into a rabbit hole after clicking any of the news items, you can turn off this feature.

You can find this so-called useful feature on your Windows taskbar, as shown below.

All you have to do is hover your mouse on the weather icon and News headlines and weather reports, among others, pop up.

Here are the steps on how to disable News and Features on your Windows 10 taskbar.

Right Click on Taskbar

Right-click anywhere on the taskbar.

You’ll be presented with the menu below.

Click on News and Interests

On the menu box that appears on your left, choose to Turn off.

News and Interests Turned Off

After you’ve done that, you’ll see that the weather icon has disappeared.

So, the next time your mouse accidentally hovers over the bottom right taskbar area, you’ll not see any news updates or weather reports.

You can always turn on News and Interests by following the steps above.
