Correct Image Format

Make sure you’re uploading the correct image format. It doesn’t mean that photos can be easily shared on Facebook, you can upload any image format you like.

Facebook supports the following popular image formats:

  • JPEG
  • BMP
  • PNG
  • GIF
  • TIFF
  • WEBP

Formats such as SVG and TGA aren’t accepted.

Image Size

Apart from image format, you need to take note of image size as well.

This is especially so if you have a high-resolution image.

Also, if you don’t want your PNG file to be pixelated, keep the size below 1 MB.

Clear Cache

Try clearing the cache of your Facebook app.

To do this, go to Settings and then Apps.

When you’re on the App Info page, tap on Storage.

On the Storage page, tap on Clear Data and then Clear Cache.

Relaunch your Facebook app to see if it fixes the problem.

Restart Your Phone

Try restarting your phone.

Long press the power button until the restart button appears.

On a Samsung phone, you’ll find the restart button on the right edge.

After the phone has restarted, try launching Facebook.

Upload a photo to see if the problem is fixed.

Uninstall Facebook App

As the last resort, uninstall the Facebook app. Then reinstall it.

Go to Settings and Application Info.

At the bottom Select App details in store.

When you’re brought to the Play Store, tap on Uninstall.
