You may have heard of Google Docs and may want to give it a try.

Google Docs is an online or web-based word-processing program that is very much like Microsoft Word.

It is offered for free by Google as part of the Google Drive package.

Google Drive is a SaaS (Software as a Service) cloud computing package offered by Google.

Need a Google Account to Open Google Docs

To access Google Docs, you would need a Google account.

If you have an existing Gmail account, it means you have a Google account.

If you don’t have a Google account, you can go ahead and open one within minutes.

Assuming you already have a Google account, here are ways through which you can open Google Docs

Logging Into Your Google Account

If your web browser’s default page is not Google, then type google.com on your web browser address bar.

Then log in to your Google account if you’re not already logged in.

Once you’re on the Google home page, click on the 9 dots in the top right-hand corner.

You’ll be presented with a list of Google tools.

Click on Drive.

When the Google Drive page opens click on New.

When you click in New you’ll be given the following options.

Choose Google Docs. And from the Google Docs submenu, you can choose either to open a blank document or from a template.

If we choose a blank document as the name suggests will give you a blank page. You can start typing on it.

If you choose the template option you’ll be given a list of templates you can choose from.

On choosing a template, you can customize it according to your preference by replacing the text and images.

Below is the template with the image and text replaced.

Open Google Docs Directly through URL

You can also open Google Docs directly through its URL.

Type docs.google.com into your address bar. You’ll be given the same options to open a blank document or create a document from a template.

If you’re not already logged into your Google account, you’ll be prompted to do so.
