This post will show you the steps to transfer a Blogger blog from one account to another.

There are reasons why you may want to transfer a Blogger or Blogspot blog from one account to another.

You may have opened the Blogspot blog on someone else’s account, maybe your company account.

Now you’re leaving the company and want to transfer the Blogspot blog to your own account.

Or the blog could be under a Google account you shared with others. Now you want to transfer it to your own account to take full control of it.

Whatever the reason, here’s how to transfer a Blogger blog from one account to another.

The steps apply to transferring a free Blogspot account and also to a Blogger blog with a custom domain.

Step 1- Back up your Blog

You want to back up your blog, in case something goes wrong during the transfer process.

To do this log in to your Blogger account.

If you have more than one blog select the one you wish to transfer to another account.

Then on the left panel go to Settings and select Back up content under Manage Blog on your right.

Next, click on Download.

Name your file one that’s easy to remember. Your backup will be saved as an XML file.

Step 2 – Invite More Authors

Go to Settings and under Permissions, choose Invite More Authors.

Step 3 – Enter Email to Invite

Enter the email you wish to transfer the account to. Then click Send.

Back in the Permissions section, you’ll see a notification of the invite.

Step 4 – Check the Email of the Intended New Account

Click on Accept Invitation.

Step 4 – Sign in to Blogger Account

You may now sign in to Blogger with the new account.

You’ll now see the Blog from the old account added.

Step 5 – Change Blog Admin

Now go back to Blogger on the old account. Under settings.

Click on Blog admins and authors.

Set the new account as Admin.

Next set the old account as Author and hit Save.

Step 6 – Remove Old Account from Blogger

Go to your new account under Settings and Permissions.

Click on Blog admins and authors.

Remove the old account as Author by clicking on X.

The new account has now been made the Admin of the blog.

Hit Save.

Step 7 – Check Old Account to Confirm Blog Removal

You’ll see that the blog has been removed from the old account.

Step 8 – Access the Transferred Blog in New Account

You can now access the blog from your new account.
